Vote Zombi Andy Beuys

The performance group Showcase Beat Le Mot uses a hundred years of theater and art history to create a voodoo doll which they stab with record needles, high-heeled shoes and pointed fingernails. Zombies stagger through nocturnal shopping malls and shady cities in jeans and checked shirts. The undead are masses of shredded rebels who submerge their own cultural and economic roots in black madness. Vote Zombie Andy Beuyz sketches out another map of art, a surface with depths, a road with potholes, a course with barricades of images and barriers of light. The morass pit of the art business is overflowing, so the revenants of performance theater rise up and dance the dried crust of the mainstream off their bodies. Haiti in their hearts and Candomblé on the soles of their shoes. Voodoo you, sucker! The shaman Beuys and the dustman Warhol rise from their coffins and dance on your portefeuilles until the bills burns and the coins start to glow.

Review

„...The audience is gently embraced in the performance yet at the same time left on its own ...The pleasure of Vote Zombie Andy Beuyz lies in the beautiful trio of the great A‘s of contemporary art: ambivalence (of feelings), ambiguity (of message) and anachronism (of situation).“
