Town Musicians of Bremen (after the fairytale by the Brothers Grimm)
What do a donkey, a dog, a cat and a rooster have in common? They are livestock. And what happens when they get old and are no longer of use to their owners? They end up in the frying pan or are sold. But the donkey, of all animals, proves his wisdom in this story: "You'll find something better than death anywhere." That said he takes off. Thus begins the story of the Bremen Town Musicians, this early road movie from the Brothers Grimm's collection of fairy tales. On the way, the donkey meets the dog, those two meet the cat and the three of them meet the rooster. With costumes made from instruments, dream machines and songs by Andreas Dorau, the wondrous story of a community of the weak who fight back is told - a tale of emancipation, a story about growing old in a society in which only strength and being able counts and, last but not least, the story of the early days of a very famous band.

Reviews
"Town Musicians of Bremen" is full of incredible ideas, quotes, jokes and not least songs from the pen of Andreas Dorau and others. It is supposedly children's theater in which no adult will be bored. You watch and listen to it with wide eyes and ears and wish that adult theater was this intelligent and profound more often.… maybe like that children might get a chance to learn the most important lessons. Firstly, the revolution starts with thinking, i.e. language. Secondly, nothing outside of one's own head must remain as it is. The performances of Showcase Beat Le Mot thus formulate an anarchist ethic that is committed to the playful freedom of art.“
