Dirty Neon Babylon
After people around the world have been locked down for eighteen months,Showcase Beat Le Mot do not celebrate a return to normality, but the opposite. Audience is not sent back to the surface of everyday life but even deeper down – into the cellars of the present, and we turn off the lights. Dirty Neon Babylon is an accompanied journey into the underground: stalactite cave bingo, night vision course and ghost train all in one. Welcome to the cold chamber of the theater, to the anti-drama below zero. In an underground labyrinth somewhere in Berlin, registered guests are taken by the hand by glowworms. A storm of flashing lights reminds them of the catastrophes that continue on the surface. Dirty NeonBabylon is not for the faint-hearted. But then, neither is life.

Review
„Dirty Neon Babylon is not about what we see, but about what we don't see... As soon as our eyesight goes, the movie in our heads begins. But this can be deceptive. Behind the blindfold, which is repeatedly put on and taken off, you sometimes expect light but end with up even more profound darkness, sometimes the perspectives blur between neon colors, flashbulbs and loud electronic music. The sound of the cuíca, the Brazilian instrument reminiscent of a frog or a cricket, is heard again and again, and in the end, almost as if it were self-evident, it leads you safely out of the darkness.“
