Dead Season

Summer, autumn, spring and winter. The live electro orchestra Monika Werkstatt (Beate Bartel, Gudrun Gut, Islaja and Pilocka Krach) meets Showcase Beat Le Mot. To pay tribute to the ailing weather cycle, one musician from Monika Werkstatt and one member of Showcase Beat Le Mot   take on a season and devise together a sonic and visual approach. The collectives give each other what the other lacks: in gender, movement and technical skills. When the weathermakers get down to business with their stumbling dramaturgy of quantum and associative leaps, solar storms send psychomagnetism and glittering stardust. Everything ends in a fifth season, the Dead Season.

Review

“… The eco-artificial performance is haunted on every level by the issue of ruination: in terms of content, technology and art. It is also about the morally frozen nature of beautiful degradation, which in all art constantly seeks its questionable, even obscuring balance. Showcase Beat Le Mot stick to their critical method of depicting nature without naturalness and art without artificiality. .... The fact that this climatic evening is also a reflection on the art of representation itself - both mimetic and critical - is obvious and explains its searching and self-dissolving power.“
